The most popular procedure is hot-dip galvanizing , which involves dipping steel parts in molten zinc.

– Creates a barrier that prevents corrosive chemicals from accessing the underlying metal or iron. 

– Zinc acts as a sacrificial anode, ensuring that even if the coating is scratched, the bare metal remains protected. 

– By corroding before iron, zinc protects its base metal. – Zinc flooring interacts with the environment to generate a dense, adherent patina that is impermeable to moisture.

Advantages of galvanized steel

– Galvanized steel performs much better than normal steel in various applications, in different environmental conditions and in different industrial applications.

– The coating adheres perfectly to the surface of the steel, becoming an effective part of it.

– Steel becomes much more durable after the galvanizing process. The long-term durability provided by galvanizing is achieved with a relatively low burden on the environment in terms of energy (some varieties of steel have been reported to last around 100 years)

– The coating layer guarantees the strength of the final product, which essentially means that damage to the work is kept under strict control

– The coating process is very fast (it is finished in a matter of a few minutes). However, preparing steel joinery takes a little longer and there are a number of other jobs that are processed simultaneously.

Light gauge steel construction (using galvanized steel)


Mainly, light gauge steel (LGS) construction is very similar to wood frame construction, in this case, structural steel is used as a frame element. The steel sections used in these applications are generally cold formed sections (sections are formed at room temperature), cold formed steel is formed by guiding thin sheets of steel through a series of rollers, where each roller must change slightly eventually as the resulting flat sheet becomes C or S shaped sections. 

Galvanized steel is used in these applications due to its high corrosion resistance. The thickness of the coating depends on the environment in which it will be used. Marine environments require the highest degree of protection, while dry, arid regions may do without a little coating. 

(LGS) Light Gauge Steel Constructions

(LGS) Light gauge steel structures offer a number of advantages:

– Being lightweight, they allow quick construction without the need to use heavy tools or types of equipment. 

– Its solidity is greater than that of wooden structures. 

– Its greater strength allows for greater distance between frame members. 

– Therefore, it can be easily molded into any shape; It can be covered and insulated with a wide variety of materials.

– This type of construction can be easily modified. 

– They are non-combustible, a very important requirement.
